Keep in touch with what RAID@3051 is committed to: integrated development which respects the impact large scale developments and the cumulative effect of medium scale developments potentially have on the community. This includes careful consideration of height and density, adequate open space, social and educational infrastructure, parking and traffic management.
4/RAID street stall: Saturday, June 16 from 10.00am – 12.00 noon in Errol Street. Come along and show your support by joining up as a member of committing an hour to talk to other residents and hand out an information flyer. Please respond by return email as to your availability to support the stall.
5/Meet the Candidates for the State seat of Melbourne 9th July. RAiD has been invited to by the Northwest Melbourne Association to meet the candidates night. Get along and ask them about their views on planning for a future North Melbourne and the proposed Woolworths development at Canning Street and Vaughan Terrace. It is on at 7-30 pm Monday 9 July 2012 at Church of All Nations 180 Palmerston St., Carlton (cnr Drummond St).
6/By-election scheduled for Saturday, July 21st: this is the opportunity to hear from candidates their position on inner urban development. What questions should we be asking the candidates? Send your responses by return email and we will post on the RAID website.
7/ Melbourne Metro: Get involved with the public transport development. Some neighbours have been letter-boxed with Edition 1, May 2012 Metro Melbourne Community Newsletter which describes the proposed nine-kilometre twin rail tunnel between South Kensington and South Yarra. It includes five new stations to be located at Arden (North Melbourne), Parkville, CBD North, CBD South and Domain. The newsletter advises that ‘the Victorian Government is preparing to proceed with the formal process to reserve a corridor for the project. The time for construction of the project will be determined once funds become available in the future’. Information is provided about how to have a say:

9/ Write a letter to the Minister and ask him what is happening about making the Woolworths plan a bit more neighborhood friendly, but please keep it a little nice 🙂 as at RAiD we don’t think insulting him will get us any where.
